Lights down and packed

Quick answer

Pronto removes Christmas lights from rooflines, trees, shrubs and pathways after the holidays. We take down the lights, clips, cords and timers, coil each strand and pack them so they are ready to store at home or return to your rental company.

Takedown is the half of the job nobody looks forward to. It means the same ladder and the same roof, on a cold January morning, with nothing to show for it afterwards.

It also matters for next year. Lights that are pulled down by the cord and pushed into a bin come out tangled and half-dead. Coiled and packed, they go straight back up.

How takedown works

  1. 1Pick a date

Tell us when you want the lights down. If your HOA or rental company has a deadline, tell us that too.

  2. 2We take everything down

Lights, clips, stakes, cords and timers all come off.

  3. 3Store or return

We coil and pack each strand. You store the boxes or send them back to the rental company.

When should Christmas lights come down?

Most homes take lights down in the first two weeks of January. Some HOAs set a date, and rental companies set a return date. Tell us yours and we schedule to meet it.

Why a proper takedown is worth it

  • Clips come off with the lights. Plastic clips left on a roof turn brittle in the sun.
  • Strands are coiled, not balled. They go up faster next year.
  • Failed strands are set aside. You know what to replace before next season.
  • Rental returns stay on schedule. Tell us the return date and we plan around it.

Removal and takedown questions

Have a different question? Call (213) 800-4951 or see all questions.

When do you take Christmas lights down?

Most takedowns happen in the first two weeks of January. If you need an earlier or later date, tell us when you book.

Can you remove lights you did not install?

Yes. Send us your city and a few details about what is up, and we will quote the takedown.

Do you store my lights after takedown?

No. Pronto does not store lights. We coil and pack them so you can store them at home or return them to the company you rented from.

Is takedown included when you install my lights?

Your install quote shows it. Every quote lists takedown, either inside the install price or as its own line. If you only need lights taken down, we quote that on its own.

What if a strand is damaged when it comes down?

We set it aside and tell you, so you can replace it before next season.

How far ahead should I book takedown?

Book it with your installation if you can. January dates fill up, and the first two weeks go first.
